Winter Is Coming
>> Thursday, 29 October 2009
I know it is only October, but I can feel the change all around me.
Now I can't leave the apartment without a jacket, and I know the need to add mittens & a scarf is not far behind.
Things get COLD here in Japan.
I really hope that there is a lot of snow this winter, last year was very disappointing and I wasn't able to go outside and have much fun in the snow with my eldest son. Fingers crossed that winter 09/10 is better.

how deep is snow usually?
Oh noes! It's that time of year when Australians start complaining about the "cold" ;). Mate, where I come from a winter where it barely gets below zero is considered pleasantly warm. Hell, provided it's a sunny, still day I can sit on my balcony in a t-shirt and enjoy the weather and wax nostalgic about all the invitations I used to get to go iceskating and / or barbecuing on frozen lakes.
Now if it's snow you want, I'd suggest a trip to Niigata, a prefecture which exists primarily to catch all the snow that would otherwise fall on the Kanto plain.
@GrammarGirl
Every year, the biggest snows are in late January.
@Penguin.
I know, I know I'm just whining. It's just your point of reference is different from mine. That's why people moved from where you are from to where I am from......
I always look forward to winter. I'm hoping for a good one this year. It's not the depth of the snow that matters, so much as the quality. That warm wet slush you get when it's over ten degrees doesn't count as "snow" to my way of thinking. The crunchy stuff you get around zero is a little better, but as far as I'm concerned it's not *proper* winter unless the ground squeaks under your feet when you walk :-)
For me, any snow is good snow. But if it's crunchy, that's the best.
