Olympus SP510uz Review

Recently I bought an Olympus SP510uz digital camera. While I have been having some troubles with the memory card, all in all it's a great camera.

At first it takes some getting used to. The auto focus is a little slow compared to my previous camera. But once I work with that, it takes some fantastic outdoor shots and great indoor shots (with flash).

Using and holding the camera, it "feels" like I am holding a "real" camera and not the compact instant 35mm camera I used to have before I delved into digital. This is a real "mans" camera. (I use "" too much, don't I?)

The main feature I wanted was a powerful optical zoom, at 10x this exceeds my requirements. But I am sure that I will find a time when I'd want more. Maybe some long distance shots of Mt Fuji or something?

It's a little heavy to carry but it's easy to operate right handed, if you are a south paw this isn't the camera for you.

Importantly it also takes great video, 30fps at 640x480 with very clear quality. When you output this to the tv, it looks great even when on a large tv.

This camera is perfect for the high level amateur or beginner professional photographer. With a little work you can get some great snaps out of it indoors and it's effortless outdoors.

Just make sure you buy a H-type card for it so you can enable long video recording. And never never ever read the memory card directly in a card reader!

Glad you liked the review. It's a great camera, just be very careful when you use an XD card.
